A Candlelight Concert
December 6 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
$10
For the first time in their collective histories, the Choral Arts Society of Southeastern Wisconsin (CAS) and Music & More will present a collaborative program, A Candlelight Concert, on Saturday, December 6th, 7:00PM at First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Avenue in downtown Racine.
Surrounded by the magical light of hundreds of candles, the Choral Arts Society joins with Music & More in creating meditative moments of artistic serenity. Bringing together song and verse, secular and sacred, dance and drama in the historic First Presbyterian Sanctuary, this concert combines local performers in a multi-dimensional collaboration that will stand apart in the holiday season. Dancers from The Studio of Classical Dance Arts and singer Mark Paffrath add to the magic of the evening.
“We have been guests of Music & More,” notes CAS Artistic Director James Schatzman, “but this is the first time we have sat down and planned an entire program where the CAS is a central part of the presentation.” Georgia Hall, Music & More Chair, adds, “I am excited for this first-time collaboration between Music & More and the Choral Arts Society! Both organizations have brought the highest quality music to our community for more than three decades, and the historic First Presbyterian Church sanctuary is the perfect setting for this candlelight event. The performers, music, and readings have been carefully chosen to create a peaceful, meditative, and memorable experience for the audience.”
The beauty of song, danced round with word, amongst candlelit history promises to be a feast for the senses. A unique event. More than music. A celebration of being in community with one another in the darkest season of the year.
Included with Admission is a pre-concert event from 5:45-6:30PM: “It’s Not All Sugar Plums,” a panel discussion with Guest Artists from The Studio of Classical Dance Arts. All concert attendees are welcome.
