September 6, 2024 @ 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Step back in time on First Friday, September 6th, at Photographic Design Gallery & Framing, 411 Sixth Street to reminisce about the great shops on Sixth Street; Haddons, Porters, G. Weiss, Levin Bros. Ruth Karnes, Mister Jr., Kovach Motors, to name a few.. By popular demand, Photographic Design is again showing its best ever exhibit, Downtown Racine – Then and Now, but featuring only the buildings on Sixth Street taken in the early 70s by architect Robert Hartmann, the same buildings photographed by Brad Jaeck and Carol Hansen in 2012 and again in 2024.All have been merged to show the buildings as entire blocks. The Main Street portion will be shown in 2025. The exhibit has been renamed Downtown Sixth Street – Through the Years to reflect its focus on Sixth Street and the addition of 2024 images. Rounding out the evening, Racine historian Jim Mercier will be showing numerous artifacts from businesses located on Sixth Street many years ago, including Red Cross Drugs, Mohr Jones, Porters and many more. Come in for a fun evening of nostalgia. The exhibit will run through October.

Photographic Design is open 11 to 9 on First Fridays. Normal hours are Fridays 11 to 5, Saturdays 10 to 2 and by appointment. For an appointment or for more information, please call 262-633-9899 or email photodesign411@gmail.com.
