Lessons and Carols
December 2 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$7 – $20
The Choral Arts Society of Southeastern Wisconsin (CAS) will present their 31st annual Lessons and Carols Concert—one of the area’s most recognized Holiday traditions—on Saturday, December 2nd at 7:00 PM, First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Avenue in Racine.
For over 30 years, audiences have returned to experience the hope, joy, wonder, love, and peace of the Christmas story. This season’s presentation will feature a program of both English and American songs. Old and new carols combined with traditional readings take us from the Christmas story through the prophecy, birth, Wise Men’s journey, and unfolding mystery of the incarnation. Listen, sing along, and share the Holiday experience as we honor this hallowed tradition of music and spoken word.
This popular program engages concert attendees with the Christmas Holiday to build a sense of community and peace among all people. Lessons and Carols will bring together five local artists, eight readers, and the Choral Arts Society to bring the essence of this season alive with hope and uplifting inspiration. Seasonal readings will be read by local dignitaries, bringing together artists and community leaders to present a unified message of hope and joy to Racine.
“CAS’s annual Lessons and Carols concert is one of the highlights of the year. The festive atmosphere and music lift the spirits of all who attend while recounting the miraculous story of how love became incarnate in our world,” said CAS Maestro James Schatzman. “The communal sharing of this special occasion is a wonderful way to begin the Holiday season.”
The Choral Arts Society is in its 37th season of presenting live choral music programs. Experiencing live music ignites a joy and sense of community that nurtures and heals. Join with the members of the CAS to share in this wonderful and moving experience!
