Each year to celebrate the holidays in Downtown Racine, a live Christmas tree is placed on Monument Square in the heart of Downtown Racine. Every year the tree is generously donated by a local Racine or Racine-area resident. A special tree-lighting ceremony is held at Monument Square.
Guests gather at the Square to listen to carolers, visit with Santa and sip hot cocoa in anticipation of the lighting of the spectacular tree. The lighted tree is then on display throughout the holiday season.

This year’s Community Christmas Tree is a 32 ft. Colorado blue spruce which was donated by Dave and Theresa Novak of Mt. Pleasant. Novak, a retired Marine, is donating this tree from his front yard in honor of the men and women in the military who are serving our country. The Novak’s currently have two sons in the Army. Their eldest son, Major Douglas Novak and his family are stationed in Washington, DC. Their youngest son, SPC4 Christopher Lee Novak and his family are station in Ft. Carson, Colorado.
The tree will be cut down and moved to Monument Square this Sunday, November 8. Special thank you to American Erecting & Iron Works, The Tree Guys and Dykstra Bros. Excavating who will work together to get the new tree to Monument Square. Parade-goers are encouraged to come early to secure the best seats for viewing the parade (which begins at 5:30 p.m.) and enjoying the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony. Help us Light Up The Night!
