Downtown Racine merchants will host a special Shopping Jam from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 19.  Merchants are inviting shoppers to come downtown early and wear your pajamas for special sales and lots of fun.  Come for the bargains; stay for the snow sculpting!

Here is a sample of just some of the specials being offered for those pajama-wearing shoppers:

  • Dimples – Receive a free gift with a $50 purchase
  • Dover Flag and Map – Receive a $5 gift certificate; 25% of any one item in the store and complimentary breakfast treats.
  • Plumb Gold, Ltd – The first five shoppers who come in their pajamas will receive a sterling silver bracelet valued at $110.  There are also in-store specials and yummy breakfast treats.
  • Copacetic – Receive 25% off your total purchase and enjoy warm breakfast sandwiches.
  • Mathis Gallery & Conservation Framing – Come in to see the spectacular Christmas tree adorned with thousands of ornaments and enjoy a glass of “wake-up” orange juice.
  • Molly MaGruder – Let Jeff Ward serenade you in his pj’s while enjoying great discounts and breakfast snacks.
  • Art Metals Studio – Will be serving muffins, kringle and coffee along with special sales and a chance to win a $100 gift certificate.
  • Artistry Furniture and Gift Gallery – Come dressed in your PJ's and receive 20% off from 7a.m. to 10 a.m.; enjoy coffee, tea, and kringle.
  • Cup of Hope – A free muffin will be given to everyone who comes to shop in their PJ's.
  • Elegant Pauper – receive 20% off all pajamas and slippers
  • RAM -- After shopping downtown in the morning, stop by the Racine Art Museum to see the current exhibitions, enjoy free RAM admission and receive 10% off Museum Store purchases if you are still wearing your pajamas.  Other activities being offer by RAM include:

    RAM Museum Store (W)rap, Roll and Revel Contest -- Enter RAM’s first Holiday (W)rap, Roll and Revel Contest! Creatively wrap a box no larger than 4 x 4 x 4 inches, and bring it to the Racine Art Museum between now and Saturday, December 19 before 11:00 am. Famous author/illustrator Lois Ehlert and RAM Director Bruce W. Pepich will select the winners in a variety of categories that day. Details and entry forms now available at the RAM Museum Store.

    Book signing and Story time with Author Lois Ehlert – Lois Ehlert is the talented author and illustrator of many acclaimed books for young children, including Snowballs and Planting a Rainbow. Just in time for holiday gift giving, Ehlert will be at RAM signing copies of her newest books at 2 pm. Books will be available to purchase at the RAM Museum Store.
  • Funky Hannah’s – is celebrating their 12th year in business with 12 days of Christmas.  During the Shopping Jam, shoppers can pick their discount -- from 5 to 25% off!
  • Casablanca de Mexico Restaurant -- will open for breakfast at 7 a.m. featuring ethnic and traditional breakfast items.  All of the staff will be wearing their pajamas as they serve breakfast that morning.  Also, throughout the weekend, purchase a gift certificate and draw to receive 5% - 25% off the price of your gift certificate.  

After the Shopping Jam, guests are invited to Monument Square for a full day of Winterfest activities.  In addition to the Snow Sculpting Competition, Downtown Racineis planning for a very cool Yule with visits by Santa and Mrs. Claus, live reindeer and refreshments.  Guests can also purchase their live holiday décor from Balsam Wreaths who will be selling decorative wreaths, centerpieces and kissing balls at Monument Square. Activities will be held at Monument Square during the following hours:

            Friday, December 18 – 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

            Saturday, December 19 – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

            Sunday, December 20 – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
